Organic vs. Non-Organic: Lemon Juice

Pure Lemon Juice

You know that moment when you try something a little different and suddenly the light bulb goes on?  Sometimes it’s a big change and it alters your whole perspective on life…

Other times it’s lemon juice.

I’m choosy when it comes to buying organic because of the price, and living gluten and sugar-free can rack up the grocery bill if you’re not careful.  So as I can’t go out and splurge on chocolate bars and candy, I splurge on other things.  Normally they’re a bit more exciting than lemon juice, but as it’s something I use everyday I can justify it!

Drinking a glass of lemon water every morning helps to get your digestive system started, cleanses kidneys and the liver, and helps to alkalize the body.  I started out by trying a tablespoon of lemon juice in a glass of warm water as I made breakfast.  Every morning, I prepared myself for the sour, biting taste and wondered how so many people raved about a drink like that!

Then, one day at the grocery store I decided to go for it.  The big splurge to buy lemon juice at $7, in a glass bottle and with half the lemon juice you can get for $3.  Before I get too overly sentimental about my lemon juice, I’ll get right to the point.  It tastes like lemonade.  Mixed with a cup of warm or cold water in the morning -it’s delicious!  Here’s an article about the ingredients in non-organic lemon juice and what they’re also used for.  I’m hooked on the organic brands after noticing the taste difference.

A bottle of of Santa Cruz can last me up to two months if I use it once a morning.  Try it out!
